Samaritan’s Purse staff member Jack Campbell shares a fun experience with Operation Christmas Child

At a recent Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution in Vera Cruz, Mexico, I was privileged to watch a program the children put together—complete with music, drama, mimes, costumes, and décor.

The program included a dramatization of the Good Samaritan parable from the Gospel of Luke. As pretend thieves attacked our young “Samaritan”, a distraught four-year-old boy ran from the front row of the audience.

“Leave that hombre (man) alone!” he yelled to the fake bandits. The group scattered, much to the delight of the crowd.

We all laughed as the hostesses calmed the child. What fun to be part of a community’s joy after receiving gift-filled shoeboxes and learning of God’s love for them!
