Special Update from Franklin Graham

January 16, 2014

by Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan's Purse

Your prayers are needed for Syrian refugee children and a special Operation Christmas Child airlift.

Franklin Syria Last month, I visited a refugee camp in northern Iraq where Samaritan's Purse is providing help for Syrians who have fled a fierce civil war in their homeland.

I met elderly people and families struggling to stay warm in the bitterly cold winter while living in tents. And I met children with little more than the clothes on their backs because they tragically had to leave everything behind when they were forced from their homes. It is a bleak environment, particularly for boys and girls already traumatized by war.

Samaritan's Purse is committed to helping these suffering people. We have already been providing basic necessities like food, clothing, and portable heaters. And now, we are giving shoebox gifts to the children.

On January 17, an airlift of 65,000 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be sent from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. We will dedicate the gifts during a special program, and ask God to use them to bring a little joy and the message of Christ’s love into the lives of suffering children.

Please pray that God will use the shoebox gifts to let these boys and girls know they are loved and not forgotten. Continue to pray for the people living in the tent camps, and for peace in their homeland. Also pray that our work with Syrian refugees in northern Iraq and neighboring countries will point people to Jesus Christ, the only true source of peace.
