Healthy Children, Healthy Families

Samaritan’s Purse is meeting the urgent needs of children in the developing world and strengthening their families and communities through food, medical care, literacy and livelihood training, and more.

*Since 1998, Samaritan's Purse Canada has equipped and sent more than 120 young Canadians to serve as interns in more than 20 developing countries. This unique program is offered in partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). These post-secondary graduates work in some of the world's neediest communities alongside local partners, focusing on relationship-building and community participation. This year we're pleased to send some of our interns to assist with sustainable agriculture projects.

Children are precious to God and Samaritan's Purse is committed to supporting families and communities with projects that nurture children and help them discover the plans God has for them.

We know that true health is more the just the absence of illness. Physical health comes through knowing about nutrition, disease prevention, and medical care. Children also need quality education and opportunities to develop skills through play. To live healthy and productive lives, adults need literacy and livelihood skills that enable them to provide for their families. Above all, the hope found in Jesus Christ has the power to transform people and communities to become all that God created them to be.

Working with local churches and Christian partners, Samaritan's Purse is meeting many of the urgent needs of children in the developing world and strengthening their families and communities to care for them and for one another.

Samaritan's Purse livelihood projects are opening up new opportunities for people to provide for their families. Agricultural and livestock initiatives are establishing sustainable sources of food and income. Acknowledging the gender-based challenges in the developing world, Samaritan's Purse also focuses on equipping women to utilize their God-given strengths to help develop healthy children and families.

Canadian Projects
Dease Lake is an exciting new project for us. We are partnering with local Christians, building lasting relationships with people there, and investing in the next generation by offering youth opportunities to develop their God-given potential.
