Good News in Sierra Leone
Maranatha Pentecostal Church, Magburaka
This African church has been struggling in terms of growth. But after local children received Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, along with an invitation to attend The Greatest Journey evangelism and discipleship classes, more than 30 children have started attending Sunday services.
“Initially I thought it was only for the gift that the children were coming, but now there is no more gift, the children have stayed for good” says Pastor Tholley.
Bringing Hope to Ukraine
Several of Samaritan's Purse ministry partners minister to children who have suffered in the war in the Eastern Ukraine. The members of Zaporozhye Regional Leadership Team (RLT) go twice a week to different towns and visit children who live close to the war zone. I have received an invitation to go to one of these trips to Krasnogorovka... Click here to read more about an Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution in Eastern Ukraine.
Great Joy in Guatemala
Luis Rodriguez - 9 year old, Chacalte Aparicio village
My parents enrolled me in school in 2015, even though they didn’t have the money to buy school supplies. The pastor and church leaders invited us to a special party to celebrate the start of Sunday school.
I was surprised because after praying for all children, they gave each of us an Operation Christmas Child shoebox, telling us what a blessing this was. And they were right because I found the school supplies I needed such as pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, paper, clothing, toys and many other things. I am happy and grateful, because God always supplies all our needs. God bless the people who do all this for children like me.
Ana Maria Xiloj - 10 year old, El Palmar Xela Village
Ana Maria's parents attended an Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution event in Aldea el Palmar. They had never heard the Word of God or any invitation to accept Jesus into their hearts.
Without thinking twice, they and their children, including Ana Maria, came forward and committed their lives to Christ. They thank God, because they never imagined that through a children’s event, they could know God.
Without this distribution event, they said, they probably would not have known or understood that they are sinners and need God's forgiveness to go to heaven. They are happy not only for the box, but because through it, they received the greatest gift: Jesus.
Diego Lemus - 10 years old, Linea A9, Sector Ican La Maquina village
Never in his young life had Diego ever received a gift, so he was very excited to receive his Operation Christmas Child shoebox. He cried so much and only stopped the moment he decided to open the box.
Diego was the happiest child in the group! He gave thanks to each of the leaders who participated in this shoebox distribution event. He thanked Operation Christmas Child because through the shoebox, he felt the love of God and the love of many people involved to bring these boxes to his village.
