SAMARITAN'S PURSE WATER PROJECTS AND OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD EL SALVADOR TEAM MARCH 2017
Join Samaritan’s Purse in El Salvador!
Samaritan’s Purse Canada is taking a team of volunteers on an exciting trip to El Salvador to participate in water projects activities and in the ministry of Operation Christmas Child. The team will have the unique opportunity to help provide clean water for people in need and distribute gift-filled shoeboxes to children in the same trip.
Project: Canadian volunteers on this team will spend their first few days serving alongside national ministry partners, Agua Viva (Living Water), as they construct, install, and monitor BioSand Water Filters (BSFs). Our water program uses a participatory approach to engage families and communities in taking responsibility for their own health. Simple, Canadian-designed BSFs are combined with culturally appropriate hygiene and maintenance education, as well as safe storage and sanitation initiatives to foster positive behavior changes and overall health improvements for families. Agua Viva is committed to the implementation and proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a holistic manner in order to achieve human transformation. You will work side by side with our national partners while living within the community that is benefiting from the filters.
The remainder of the team’s time in El Salvador will be spent serving in Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoebox distributions and The Greatest Journey program. OCC is a fun and simple project to offer hope and love to children living in desperate situations around the world. Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has distributed more than 100 million shoebox gifts to children in over 130 countries. In addition to shoebox gifts, children may receive a colorful booklet that is printed in their own language, titled The Greatest Gift, which explains the Good News of Jesus Christ. Many children who receive a shoebox gift are offered the opportunity to participate in a follow-up discipleship program (called The Greatest Journey). This 12-part program helps children to know Jesus, follow Him every day and share their faith with others. Participants will also have the chance to assist with shoebox distributions, children’s ministry and other outreach opportunities in the local community.

Ways you can help
Please pray for Samaritan's Purse Teams as they prepare to serve the people of El Salvador. Pray that God will provide the necessary funds and resources and that they will be granted safety and health as they travel.
Samaritan's Purse Teams send hundreds of volunteers around the world every year thanks to the financial gifts of our generous supporters. A gift of $250 will help cover the cost of airfare for a team member who is having difficulty raising the funds needed. Donate Here
