Christian hospitals and clinics with critically-needed Christian
medical personnel-to treat patients as witnesses of God's
World Medical Mission - a ministry of Samaritan's Purse - places
volunteer evangelical Christian physicians, dentists, and other
medical personnel in short-term service at mission hospitals and
clinics around the world. We provide placement and logistical
support for our volunteers, opening doors to the Good News in
remote areas and bringing physical restoration and spiritual
healing through quality, compassionate medical care.
World Medical Mission began in 1977. That's when two surgeon
brothers, Drs. Lowell and Richard Furman, approached Franklin
Graham and expressed their desire to volunteer for a short-term
assignment in a mission hospital during their vacation, but said
there didn't seem to be any organization that arranged trips like

The motivation behind all our efforts is Christ's command to go
and "heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God
is near you'" (Luke 10:9, NIV). In remote areas around the world,
missionary medicine is one of the most effective means of
evangelism available. Each year the hospitals we serve are used by
God to lead thousands of people to faith in Jesus Christ.
