This Team offers a unique window of opportunity for young Canadians to travel to China and experience life in a dynamic culture. Chinese are very open to the culture, lifestyle, and values of English-speakers from around the world. This provides you with an opportunity to share your life and build relationships in a fun yet challenging context. Samaritan’s Purse Canada will be participating in teaching at a government sponsored English camp in Panzhiphua, Sichuan Province in the People’s Republic of China. The purpose of the camp is to provide Chinese children and youth with a safe, caring, energetic, and challenging environment to increase their English speaking abilities. With a burgeoning economy and rapidly urbanizing population, the demand to learn English is great. The team will live and teach at the camp and will also have an opportunity to visit the historic city of Beijing!
Samaritan’s Purse has been involved in China for a number of years including disaster relief after a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan Province in May 2008. Samaritan’s Purse has also distributed Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes in China.
Who should go?
This is a team specifically for youth and young adults. If you are outgoing, resourceful, love being around kids and have an adventurous spirit, this is your team. Participants must have a valid passport and be 16 or older.
Dates: July 9 – 26, 2010
Cost: $3,500 per person (tax receiptable)
What is not included: Vaccinations and personal spending money
