God has done amazing things this year through Samaritan’s Purse! Because of your prayers and support, we are able to help in Jesus' name.
Highlights from 2017:
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we provided safe water and promoted safe hygiene practices in homes, schools, and communities that will drastically improve lives and safe-guard them from deadly, but preventable, diseases. With the support of Samaritan’s Purse donors, 2,000 more homes and seven more schools now have water filters thanks to the work completed there in 2017.
Health & Medical
In Nepal, Samaritan’s Purse partnered with local ministries and hospitals to provide Patient Navigation Support and ensure that appropriate medical care is received. We refer children in need of advanced care from mission hospitals in remote areas to better-equipped hospitals in Kathmandu. Impoverished families are able to receive life-changing treatment they otherwise couldn’t afford.
Canadian Disaster Response
For the first time in 14 years, the province of British Columbia declared a state of emergency as wildfires burned across the province. In August, Samaritan’s Purse responded to the destruction in 3 locations by providing fire recovery assistance and prayer for those whose homes were lost or damaged. We are continuing these efforts assisting about 400 homeowners through the rebuilding process.
International Crisis Response
More than 600,000 impoverished Rohingya refugees have been displaced by violent conflict in Myanmar and are now living in temporary huts, tents, and under tarps in refugee camps in Bangladesh. Samaritan’s Purse responded by sending medical staff, equipment, and emergency supplies to aid the Rohingya people and treat critically wounded and sick refugees.
Operation Christmas Child
We are praising God for the hundreds of thousands of shoebox gifts packed and collected this year. Each shoebox gift represents a child who will hear the good news and great joy of Jesus Christ—praise God!
