A visit from a Samaritan's Purse team guided a young mom in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to take her severely malnourished son to the hospital, and also helped her learn skills to grow life-giving food for her children.
Marie Hanyie is a 23-year-old mother of four in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A Samaritan’s Purse program is helping her provide for her children.
I have four children, and they’re repeatedly malnourished. They’re close in age, and there’s not enough food in our household. We have such trouble taking care of ourselves because the war stripped us of all our property and put our lives on a decline.
Recently I met a Samaritan’s Purse team that supports Nyankunde Hospital. Thanks to that team, I had the courage to bring my child-who was already in a critical state and on his way to an early death-to the hospital. After a month and four days of receiving therapeutic milk, my son regained his health and is continuing with outpatient treatment. I realized that the Lord sent Samaritan’s Purse to our home because He still loves me.
I will continue to follow advice from Samaritan’s Purse on a proper diet. The team also taught me about how to grow better crops, and I will dedicate myself to cultivating a field so this cycle will not continue any longer in my family. God bless you!
