BioSand Water Filter brings safe water and new life for a family in Kenya.
As a father of eight children in Kenya, Mwanze Nyanje is all too familiar with the struggle to provide safe water for his family. He lives in Kizimbani village, a drought-threatened region where Samaritan’s Purse is improving water sources and installing filters.
In all his 42 years, Nyanje had never drank filtered water. The first time he saw his BioSand Filter make murky, contaminated water clear and safe to drink, he was amazed. But his amazement didn’t end there. God had begun to work in his heart.
Nyanje lives in a majority Muslim area with few Christians or churches. “All my life I have not made a commitment to either the Muslim or Christian faith, but I have been more inclined to Islam,” he said.
That began to change as Nyanje watched the filter, provided by someone like you, bless his family and small food business. He witnessed Samaritan’s Purse staff and the local church work together in Jesus’ Name to improve his village. Soon he began to participate in prayer and devotions, and watched a film about Jesus Christ.
“I realized I was missing something,” Nyanje said, “and now I have found it.”
Through the Samaritan’s Purse water project in his community, he and his family—10 people in all—gave their lives to Jesus Christ. They now attend a local church and celebrate their new life in Christ.
“I have come to a realization that the real water of life is Jesus Christ,” Nyanje said.
