Where most of us live it’s easy to assume we’ll wake up with enough water to bathe, to cook, and, most important, to drink. But this is not the case for hundreds of millions of people.

Samaritan’s Purse is working around the world to provide clean water in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Millions of people in poor communities have never had access to a dependable source of clean water. Families are forced to use contaminated water for cooking, washing, and drinking. They get sick as a result, but they don’t have another choice.

An estimated 842,000 people die each year from diseases caused by unclean water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene habits. The majority of these are children in developing countries. Providing clean water, coupled with health and hygiene education, is perhaps the most effective measure we can take in preventing infectious disease. Samaritan’s Purse works around the world to provide clean water and promote safe hygiene practices.

Samaritan’s Purse Canada is currently responding to the crisis in Ukraine by providing drinking water and hygiene kits to those who are fleeing and displaced in the region.

Safe water revives and refreshes from the inside out. When families have clean water for drinking, cooking, and handwashing, they experience the blessing only good health can bring—the ability to stay in school, to work, and to be a family. Saved from severe illness and death, families are freed to find hoe for the future. That’s the power of your gifts of safe water in Jesus’ Name.

In Kenya, Dama used to spend painful hours walking for hours every day. Then a Samaritan’s Purse team excavated a reservoir near her home and provided her family with a BioSand Water Filter. The gift of clean water—and the “living water” (John 4;10) of Jesus—changed Dama’s life forever. “God is my Shepherd,” shared the mother of eight. “That gives me comfort, and that comfort gives me hope.”
