More than 120 flooded homeowners receive physical, spiritual relief from Samaritan’s Purse

More than 120 flooded homeowners in the southwest Ontario communities of Windsor and Tecumseh were  feeling some relief after Samaritan’s Purse Canada and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada brought physical and spiritual relief to them.

In late September 2016, as much as 190 millimeters (seven inches) of rain fell in the area in just 24 hours. Thousands of homes were flooded as a result. The City of Windsor and nearby Town of Tecumseh welcomed the two organizations to contribute to recovery efforts.

Financial gifts from generous Canadians like you enabled Samaritan’s Purse to move one of its specially equipped Disaster Relief Unit tractor trailers into the area.

Working with local churches and almost 230 volunteers, we responded to 122 requests for help, cleaning out basements, spraying them to prevent the spread of dangerous mold, and preparing them to be rebuilt.

Meanwhile, nine specially trained volunteer chaplains from our sister organization, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, accompanied Samaritan’s Purse volunteers. Providing a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on, the chaplains prayed with more than 100 people. Four of them decided to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ.

Inevitably the future will bring more disaster situations to Canada. You can help bring spiritual and physical relief to victims of these disasters through your donations to Samaritan’s Purse.
