On a recent visit to Senegal, not only were children blessed with Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, but also a pastor and his wife with a meaningful gift.
On July 22, we stopped by a remote village on our way to a shoebox distribution. This community had a church that was specifically planted because of an Operation Christmas Child distribution that had taken place. The church we toured and the community water well that now stand as the hub of the village was provided and built by Canadians who came alongside the pastor and people who live there.
Last year, the first Operation Christmas Child Ambassador team to travel to Senegal also had the privilege to visit the same pastor to see what God had accomplished in this area. When they offered to pray for him, he requested that they pray for God to bring him a wife who he can love and share his life with. Well, we had the joy of meeting Rose, his beautiful new bride of only a few months. Rose is a strong woman of God who loves the Lord and is a passionate and dedicated teacher for the 60-plus children she teaches each day. She has a vision of building a Christian school behind the church.
Rose and her pastor-husband had many prayer requests, including that the community leaders will be open to Rose’s idea of building a school and that they will give favor in providing the land for the school. Along with a prayer for their community to have access to electricity, they also requested that the Lord will bless them with a baby! That is when I knew that the little baby sweater that had been donated by the Calgary Operation Dollknit ladies was meant for Rose and her husband and their future baby.
The young couple was overjoyed with gratitude to receive this precious little blue sweater! Please join me in praying that next year this time, Rose and her husband will welcome into the world a healthy baby to be part of their family.
Thank you to all the ladies from the Operation Dollknit Club who generously give of themselves through the hundreds of beautiful dolls, sweaters, and other creations they provide for Operation Christmas Child! Your efforts have touched the hearts of so many people around the world.
